Out knocking doors in our district, I hear far too many stories of small farmers struggling to stay afloat and hold onto their farms.

I grew up visiting local farms like Maynard Orchards in Esopus and Battenfeld’s Tree Farm in Red Hook. I want my children to be able to create the same memories at local, family farms like these.

We’ve got to protect our small farmers. Faso’s farm bill was created behind closed doors and not in the interest of local, family-run farms. We need leaders looking out for small farmers, not big corporations.

My agricultural priorities:

  • Support dairy farmers by improving the Dairy Margin Protection Plan
  • Pass into law the Fair Farmer Practices Rules
  • Protect SNAP and expand on it to improve farmers’ access to new markets
  • Fund conservation assistance that partners with small farmers
